We are currently seeking enthusiastic Transfer Practitioners to join the Adult Critical Care Transfer Service in the West Midlands.
ACCOTS is a newly commissioned service for the Midlands region providing coordination, triage, decision-support and transfer of critically ill patients between hospitals for escalation to specialist care, repatriation and capacity reasons. It is primarily focused on intra region transfers but must be capable of delivering inter regional transfers and have the ability to surge capacity when the Adult Critical Care (ACC) service is under pressure.
We have full time positions requiring 37.5 hours per week. ACCOTS is a 24/7 service, you will be required to cover a range of the current operational shifts (08:00 -- 20:00, 10:00 -- 22:00 and 2000-0800hrs)
We are keen to hear from applicants with recent Critical Care and Patient Transfer experience who are already currently working within the acute setting in the NHS.

Main duties of the job
As an ACCOTS Band 6 Transfer Practitioner, following completion of the appropriate additional training, you will assume responsibility for the delivery of Adult Critical Care Transfers to ensure the specialised care required to transfer critically ill adults is carried out to a high standard. There is an expectation that you continue to develop your clinical and management skills by demonstrating an ability to work remotely in the referring centres, in partnership with the local teams.
By working collaboratively with the multi-professional team, the post holder will act as a professional role model, setting standards of practice and promoting clinical effectiveness and actively participating in practice developments identified through the service governance processes.
You will be expected to support and mentor new members of the multi-professional team, demonstrating an active role in the on going education programmes. In partnership with the Midlands Critical Care Network, the post holder will support the relationship between the Service and referring centres through taking on the role of link practitioner for several designated hospitals, assuming responsibility, with the Lead Practitioner for the delivery of outreach education and annual updates.
There will be an expectation to maintain clinical skills by working in a Critical Care Unit for an agreed period each month.
There will be a requirement to work shifts including evenings, weekends and nights.
