Job summary
The Oncology Administration team at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham is look for a committed, compassionate and personable individual to join as a Medical Secretary.
This team provides a secretarial service to the Oncologists who work in the renowned Cancer Centre at the QE.
This position will include a mixture of on-site and working from home. The team work flexibly, and this is a 12 month fixed term position.
The successful candidate will be well organised and be able to prioritise tasks. They will be proactive in solving problems and queries and will see these through to completion. The post holder will need to be calm and patient, with an excellent telephone manner, communication, interpersonal and organisational skills to deal with sometimes complex and difficult issues over the phone. The post holder will be flexible in their approach and will work creatively to provide support in the most effective way.
Previous experience working as a Medical Secretary is desirable.

Main duties of the job
To provide secretarial support to Consultants and their teams with particular responsibility for clinic administration, checking and distributing outsourced clinic letters. The post holder will provide an empathic and sensitive point of contact for patients/relatives and carers, undertaking work under the direction of the Office Manager.
