Job summary

The post holder shall be based at the Birmingham Heartlands site and will rotate between sites -- BHH/SOL &BCC when required. Primarily this role requires the post holder to perform lung function tests both simple and have the opportunity to be involved in learning and performing CPET investigations. The post holder will have specialist knowledge in Respiratory Physiology through formal training to Practitioner Training Programme (PTP) or equivalent science related subject, be registered as PTP Equivalence or working towards this. Professional examinations required ARTP part 1 or Practitioner Certificates or working towards this. They will be continuing to develop skills and knowledge in highly specialised procedures and working towards specialised professional accreditation.

Main duties of the job

*Perform basic lung function procedures in a variety of clinical settings

*Perform more specialised lung function procedures

*Calibrate and quality control equipment required to perform basic lung function procedures

*Technical reporting of Lung Function

*Maintain accurate patient information systems

*Undertake administration duties e.g. posting results, answering telephone queries

*Assist with training and supervision of less experienced staff

*Support the departments oxygen service and sleep service
