Job summary

University Hospitals Birmingham (UHB) is one of the largest teaching hospital trusts in England, serving a regional, national, and international population.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for one clinician to join UHB Trust as full-time Consultant Urologists with a specialist interest non muscle invasive bladder cancer.

The Urology Directorate is considered one of the busiest in the country and currently provides services across all four sites undertaking a combined total of 13,164 surgical procedures and 42,153 outpatient visits per year.

The medical compliment across the Trust consists of 24 WTE Consultants, and two WTE Associate Specialists. The Consultants are supported by 18 WTE Tier 3 doctors. The department is extremely well equipped on all four sites with the most advanced technology and is supported by CNS and nursing team in the ward.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will join the subspecialist team to support the bladder cancer team as a non-muscle invasive bladder cancer specialist. The post holder will contribute to the specialist cancer MDTs, supported by dedicated specialist nurses and other affiliated specialists.

The postholder will be based at the Heartlands and Solihull sites, where they will contribute to the emergency service, although some cross site working is expected.

The Terms and Conditions of service are offered on a 10 Programmed Activity basis. The post includes participation in a 1 in 12 on call rota supported by an on call registrar.

The post has clerical and administrative support including a named secretary. Office space and IT equipment are allocated for these posts.
