Job summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic and dynamic person to join our friendly/nurturing Inherited Metabolic Disorder (IMD) dietetic team. We have 18.75 hours a week (0.5 whole time equivalent) available on a permanent basis for a Band 3 Dietetic Assistant post in this speciality.

This post involves working alongside 3 specialist dietitians, band 4 dietetic assistant and a multi-disciplinary team (MDT) to assist in the provision of the dietetic service to our IMD patients. The job is mainly office and outpatient based at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital with some occasional ward visits.

You should have experience of working within a health care setting and an awareness of the complexity of working with patients with chronic conditions such as IMDs. You should have experience of cooking and modifying recipes, teaching and training others to improve nutritional care and experience of using social media with the public/patients.

Main duties of the job

*To provide a flexible service to support IMD specialist dietitians working mainly in the outpatient setting within the University Hospital Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust.

*To assist in the review of patients whilst under the supervision of a Registered Dietitian.

*To provide clerical support by undertaking appropriate administrative tasks associated with patient care for example nutrition products samples requests, letters, home delivery set ups.

*To organise and prepare for specialist clinics including preparing educational material.

*To contribute to project work and audits.

*To be responsible for ensuring adequate stock of specialist nutritional products, equipment and resources.

*To participate in education sessions.

*Based at QEHB (Employees will be expected to demonstrate a flexible working approach and move across sites as required to deliver care based on organisational and service need).
