Job summary

An opportunity has arisen for a Fellowship in Rhinology and Anterior Skull Base Surgery for fixed term period of 24 months starting on Wednesday 1st October 2025. Due to service needs these dates are not flexible.

The post is suitable for trainees who have completed their StR training and are seeking to extend their experience prior to applying for a consultant post with a subspecialist interest in Rhinology and Skull Base Surgery. The post will provide comprehensive training in Advanced Rhinology, Endoscopic Sinus, Anterior Skull Base and Nasal Reconstructive Surgery and has the advantage of multidisciplinary management with Endocrinology, Neurosurgery, Ophthalmology, plastics and Maxillofacial Surgery.

Main duties of the job

The postholder will be responsible for the outpatient and inpatient care of rhinology patients as directed by the Consultants within the department. The post holder will be expected to maintain a high quality level of service for elective and emergency patients in conjunction with the higher surgical trainees.

The postholder will be expected to maintain high standards of communication and documentation in relation to patient care, including maintaining medical records, the preparation of discharge summaries and clinic letters and maintenance and collection of statistical data.

The postholder will contribute to the regular audit and journal meetings in the department.

This post holder is expected on occasions to cover any registrar sick leave at UHB.
