Job summary

The post holder will practice autonomously and be responsible and accountable for safe,

compassionate person centred evidence based nursing that respects and maintains dignity and

human rights. They will be responsible for assessment of care needs of patients and planning

programmes of care, implementation and the evaluation of these programmes without direct

supervision. At times they will have management responsibility for being in charge of the

ward/department and supervising junior members of staff.

The post holder will practice in a holistic, non-judgmental, caring and compassionate manner that

avoids assumptions, supports social inclusion and recognises and respects individual choice and

acknowledges diversity. They will work in partnership with other health and social care

professionals, students and trainees and agencies, service users, their carers and families. The

post holder will contribute to the practice development within their clinical care setting and work

in accordance with Trust Policies, Procedures and Guidelines and will be responsible for

completing any work based training associated with the role

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Demonstrating critical analysis and decision making skills when undertaking, leading and or supervising the delivery of consistent high quality evidence based care. Ensures care is aligned to the professional values of care, compassion and respect. Influencing and facilitate change within the practice setting.

* The post holder will take charge of the practice setting and take responsibility for ensuring the coordination and direct provision of patient care.

  • * Evidence of undergraduate education for newly qualified nurses / or post graduate continuing professional development for registered nurses who have post registration experience

  • * Previous / recent experience or working in an acute secondary health and care setting (can include undergraduate student placements within the last 12 months)

  • * Demonstrable understanding and knowledge of the NMC code of conduct and the proficiencies and standards for registered nurses can apply this to undergraduate training or post graduate practice

  • * Promoting health and preventing ill health
