Job summary

As an organisation, we are Birmingham and Solihull's largest employer, with over 24,000 permanent staff and 6,000+ on our internal staffing bank. Without our people, we would be unable to deliver the first-class care to our patients both in the community and within our 4 main hospitals.

Led by the Trust's Group Chief People Officer, the People Directorate is the epicentre of employee relations and organisational development. Recognising the importance of this department, we are expanding our advisory team across the Queen Elizabeth Hospital with the creation of a new Band 5 People Advisor opportunity.

This is an exciting time to join the Trust with significant opportunity to make an impact through the introduction of new and improved ways of working whilst framing your personal career aspirations for growth and development.

As a Directorate, we provide a partnership service to all managers on policy and procedures and are proud of our person focused, fair approach, where patient care is our priority.

You will be well versed in; working in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple conflicting demands and pressures, whilst continuing to provide guidance to the wider management team and managing a caseload of varied employee relation matters such as disciplinary, grievance, sickness absence and performance improvement.

Main duties of the job

It is essential that you are able to demonstrate your expert knowledge in the field of employee relations and have up to date working knowledge of employment law; keeping yourself informed with legislative changes and best practices, which focus on people rather than process.

You will be innovative, team-focused, and able to demonstrate how you follow the just culture principles in your approach.

By joining our exciting journey, you will be working with like-minded people who deliver unequivocal excellence in all aspects of their role, who are encouraged by the peers to deliver on their individual ability and creativity and who continue to drive the department's innovations.

As a flexible employer, UHB can offer hybrid working to include cross site and home with hours of work to suit service delivery and a healthy work life balance.

Please note the interviews will take place in person on Friday 13 December 2024 at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham.
