Job summary

The HPB CNS Team are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated Band 4 Cancer Clinical Support Worker to join them in providing specialist care for patients with liver, pancreas or biliary cancers.

This role is a full-time, permanent post and it is important that you are a caring and kind person with a genuine desire to help and support people with a cancer diagnosis. Experience in this field is not essential but would be desirable. Excellent communication and organisational skills are essential.

Main duties of the job

This role can be emotionally demanding and involves working closely with the multi-professional team to care for and support people with an HPB cancer from point of diagnosis to best supportive care. There will be much face-to-face work with patients and their loved ones, and some administrative work. You will be supervised by a well-established team of Clinical Nurse Specialists.

As this role is new, it is an exciting opportunity to really make your mark and help to evolve the role to suit the needs of the patients' and the service.

You will work in a variety of settings including wards and oncology and surgical out-patients, meeting with patients at varying stages of their treatment and cancer pathway.
