Job summary
We are seeking an enthusiastic Operations Manager to join CDG 9B at University Hospitals Birmingham. The CDG provides clinical support services for Surgery, Tertiary and Outreach services at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham (QEHB). This is an exciting opportunity for ambitious and highly motivated individuals to join the Theatres and Enhanced Perioperative Care (EPOC) directorate, working alongside multidisciplinary teams to deliver high quality, safe, and effective care across 38 operating theatres and EPOC at QEHB. The team provide support services to multiple specialities including General Surgery, ENT, Maxillofacial, Trauma and Orthopaedics, Cardiac and Neurosurgery, Interventional Radiology, Cath Labs and Endoscopy.
The post is fixed term, requiring 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, covering maternity leave within the CDG. We are keen to hear from applicants with operational management experience and/or experience working within the theatre environment in an acute setting in the NHS.
This post offers an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to develop within operational management, whilst further enhancing interpersonal, communication and analytical skills through interdisciplinary working.
The successful candidate will work as part of a dynamic team providing effective day to day operational management of theatres, working closely with consultants, operational management teams and theatre staff supporting both elective and emergency pathways.
Main duties of the job
*To ensure that the operational performance of their assigned areas is effectively managed to meet agreed Trust, Site and CDG objectives.
*To work with the Associate Director of Operations, Clinical Service Leads, Senior Nurses and General Manager to ensure achievement of access standards for delegated specialties.
*To monitor performance against activity targets and other service objectives.
*To ensure complaints and incidents are investigated in line with Trust policies to identify, agree and implement corrective action plans.
*To ensure the Trust's Infection Control policy is fully enforced.
*Co-ordinate assigned audits and improvement projects within the CDG.
*Lead on annual capacity and business planning processes within delegated specialties.
*To ensure the delivery of key performance standards for designated areas within the CDG, escalating any variances and providing action plans as required.
*To monitor and analyse data as required to ensure that the General Manager and key stakeholders have access to timely and accurate information on all relevant key performance indicators with the appropriate formulation of data for reports.
