Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a suitably experienced candidate to join an established Community Paediatric service based in Solihull as a Clinical Support Worker. This is for a 12 month fixed term period. We offer care and support to children and young people with neurodevelopmental needs such as ADHD and support children and young people who are accessing our Community Child Protection medical service. A flexible working approach is essential in supporting these children and their families.
The successful candidate will have relevant experience, excellent communication skills, and be committed to delivering high quality care to children in schools, clinics and local community environments. Good team working and interpersonal skills are essential as is an ability to manage own time and lone work for periods of time. A good understanding of safeguarding and also ADHD would be useful but training will be offered.
You will positively represent the Solihull Community Paediatrics Service and advocate for the rights of children and young people with safeguarding needs and neurodevelopmental needs; promoting equality and assisting access to NHS and other services.
Main duties of the job
The clinical support worker will be responsible for chaperoning children and young people during Child Protection medical examinations as well as completing ADHD focussed school based observations, community based training and teaching, engagement work and supporting in ADHD clinics across the Borough of Solihull. It is vital that applicants hold a full current UK driving licence and have regular access to a vehicle as this role is community based.
This role requires a candidate who is confident and enthusiastic about supporting and advocating for children and young people to maximise their potential and who can confidently and enthusiastically engage with and support parents. There may be opportunities to support evening and weekend youth activities that will complement the teams' daily workload so flexibility is required. The role will include clinical intervention and skills based competencies and an opportunity to complete Care Certificate.
The Community Paediatrics service works alongside the wider Multi-disciplinary team and you will have opportunities to work collaboratively as part of the health, social care and education team.
