Job summary

Birmingham Chest clinic is situated in the heart of the city and offers a wide range of services to the population of Birmingham and beyond.

We have a reputation for excellence and currently have a Part-time (30hrs) vacancy for a band 2 Health care assistant in the out-patients department.

This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and dynamic individual wanting to develop a career in respiratory medicine and to join our team. You together with the team will ensure that an effective and high quality service is maintained to all our patients.

The out-patient department holds various specialist clinics from: Asthma, Interstitial Lung Disease, Long Covid, Occupation Lung Disease and TB clinics and services, spirometry testing X-Ray etc.

Training will be provided to develop skills to support the clinics.

Main duties of the job

the main duty's in the clinic are to meet and greet patients coming in to see the consultants, to perform Observations of vital sighs, record ECG's, take bloods as requested by the doctor, to stock take, to record Hight and weight, to perform basic spiro test and check blood glucose levels. and at times to support patients if they receive any bad news.

  • *Care Certificate or evidence or Training & Development associated with Health Care Support Worker role

  • *Evidence of ability to work using own initiative and under minimal supervision (
  • *Ability to demonstrate an understanding of the role and tasks involved
