Job summary
In 2024, the landscape of elective surgery will be transformed for the residents of Birmingham and Solihull with the opening of a dedicated elective surgical hub at Solihull hospital.
Building on best practice nationally, this hub will provide a unique opportunity to shape and deliver therapy provision in pathways which promote patient engagement. If you are seeking the chance to work in an innovative setting, we have the role for you.
You will work alongside a dynamic team of physiotherapists, OTs and therapy support workers as well as the multi-professional team. As an autonomous practitioner you will be responsible for your own cases within a clear and defined area allowing you to practice with confidence with support from the clinical lead.
This post would be suitable either for an experienced band 6 Physiotherapist or a band 5-6 Physiotherapist development post with a competency framework, training and guidance to support your move to a band 6 role within 6 months. We are committed to your career development as well as maximising your talent.
The T&O/MSK pathway covers inpatients including elective, trauma care and MSK outpatients. The posts available are at Solihull and Good Hope Hospitals.
The roles available are up to full time and specialist preferences would be considered across T&O/MSK pathway. Participation in extended hours (8-8), weekend rota and respiratory on-call would be required in T&O.
Interviews will be held face to face as there will be a practical element.
Main duties of the job
Applicants must have BSc Physiotherapy, be HPCP registered with post graduate experience and evidence of appropriate CPD activity and completing core rotations and working within T&O and MSK.
We are invested in supporting you to maximise your potential. You can expect regular formal training and clinical reasoning sessions.
You will undertake all aspects of clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner and maintain associated records, working without direct supervision. Supervision takes the form of regular formal training, clinical reasoning sessions, peer review, case conferences. Additionally, you will have access to advice and support from senior physiotherapists.
In addition to the clinical aspects of the role you will have the opportunity to develop management, leadership and service improvement skills. Assisting with supervision, education and assessment of the performance of physiotherapy students to graduate standard. Assisting with supervision, education and co-ordination of generic therapy assistants, and junior therapy staff.
