Job summary

Umbrella is dedicated to enhancing the sexual health and well-being of young people and vulnerable communities. Our mission is to provide accessible, comprehensive sexual health education and services to those who need them most. We are seeking a passionate and empathetic Community Sexual Health Worker to join our team.

As a Community Sexual Health Worker, you will conduct outreach activities to raise awareness about sexual health issues, including STIs, contraception, and healthy relationships. You will develop and deliver educational workshops and training sessions for young people in various educational and community settings. These sessions will be designed to be engaging and informative, providing participants with the knowledge and skills they need to make informed decisions about their sexual health. You will work closely with schools, youth centres, and other community organisations to ensure that these workshops are accessible and relevant to the needs of the community.

Furthermore, your empathetic approach will help to build trust and encourage open conversations, enabling you to provide personalised support and referrals to appropriate services when needed.

Main duties of the job

Outreach and Education: Conduct community outreach activities to raise awareness about sexual health issues, including STIs, contraception, and healthy relationships.

Support and Guidance: Offer confidential advice and support to individuals, helping them make informed decisions about accessing sexual health services.

Workshops and Training: Organise and deliver educational workshops and training sessions for young people and community organisations.

Collaboration: Partner with local schools, charities, and community organisations to enhance the reach and impact of our services.

Resource Distribution: Distribute educational materials, condoms, and other resources to promote safe sexual practices.

Advocacy: Advocate for the sexual health needs of young people and vulnerable communities within local health and social care systems.

  • * Qualified Teacher Status
  • * Or
  • * Relevant Teaching and Assessing qualification
  • * Personal Social Health Education (PHSE) certificate, or sexual health qualification

Experience
