An exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Project Manager has arisen. University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust and NHS England are seeking to appoint a dynamic and motivated Stroke Quality Improvement for Rehabilitation Manager (SQuIRe Manager) to join the Midlands Integrated Stroke Delivery Networks (ISDNs) teams. The successful candidate will take on a busy and rewarding role in improving stroke care in the Region, as well as regionally and nationally.
ISDNs are an integral part of the NHS Long Term Plan aims for improving stroke care. They work to ensure there is equity of access to resources offered by providers across wide geographical areas, together with consistency of treatment and improved outcomes for patients and focus on the operational elements of care delivery. The ISDNs will work closely with the East and North Midlands Clinical Networks, STPs, Ambulance Services and the third sector partners including the Stroke Association. This Midlands ISDN footprint includes East Midlands, North Midlands and West Midlands ISDNs footprints with 11 ICBS and 4 Comprehensive Stroke Centres. The successful candidate will need to work across the region, as well as with other SQuIRe mangers across the country and feed into the National Clinical Policy Unit.
Main duties of the job
The overarching aim of the SQuIRe project is to facilitate implementation of the Integrated Community Stroke Service model (ICSSM). The post holder will be the regional manager of this project, supported by the national Stroke Programme within the Clinical Policy Unit, who lead on the development and delivery of the stroke elements and milestones in the Long Term Plan. The post-holder will work closely with the regional medical director, and report into the National Stroke Programme Lead, National Clinical Director for Stroke and Rehabilitation and Life after Stroke Lead. The post holder would be accountable for delivery against plan and would be responsible for assuring the delivery board of progress.
The SQuIRe manager is expected to work collaboratively and with their ISDN partners, guided by an overall role assignment, supported by the National stroke programme team. This will include an expectation to focus on the following key domains, in line with known challenges relating to the implementation of the ICSS model. The successful candidate will support delivery of transformational change and quality improvement within and across local systems for stroke rehabilitation. The proven ability to work in a cross-cutting multi-organisational setting to facilitate service-specific and wider organisational change is vital as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as is demonstrable experience of project management.
