Job summary

The QEHB theatre department consists of 41 theatre areas, 3 recovery units and 1 EPOC.
The post holder will be responsible for the effective and efficient operational day to day management of the practice setting, including standards of care, budget management and control, clinical governance staff development and training. The post holder is professionally accountable for the maintenance of standards of professional practice and standards of care. They will provide professional clinical leadership within a defined practice setting and provide direction and inspirational leadership to all members within the multi-disciplinary team.
The post holder will undertake and supervise clinical practice, audit, research and teaching to set, monitor and continuously improve standards of care and patient experience. The post holder is accountable for managing and developing team performance, managing a devolved budget ensuring efficient and effective use of physical and human resources.
Where the post holder has continuing responsibilities for the practice setting this will be identified at the point of recruitment.
Main duties of the job
As a visible, clinical nurse leader, promote team work within a multi-professional environment. Supervise staff in the delivery of care, ensuring treatments prescribed by the multi-disciplinary team are carried out. Lead on and ensuring the planning and delivery of consistently high quality patient care, demonstrating this through direct practice, supervision and feedback to ensure patient care is aligned to the professional values of care, compassion and respect. Ensure team members assess, plan, implement and evaluate care for patients and make changes as necessary. Where required ensure team members produce individualised , holistic care plans that are appropriate to the patient's needs and that they are monitored and updated frequently.
Demonstrating critical analysis and decision making skills, leading the delivery of consistent high standards of evidence based care, influencing and facilitating change within the Operating Theatre department.
Work with multi-disciplinary and multi-agency teams and provide information to assist them in exercising their duties and responsibilities.
