Job summary
The Stroke service at University Hospitals Birmingham is a busy service with over 1200 stroke patients being admitted every year. Good clinical audit and performance data is critical to support clinical governance and to drive improvements in the quality of Stroke care.
The Clinical Audit Assistant role within the Stroke Service will involve working within a team to support the nationally and locally required submission of stroke performance data. The post holder will work under the supervision of the Clinical Audit Analyst based at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham but provide support for the Birmingham Heartlands Hospital, Good Hope Hospital sites within the Trust where necessary and be accountable to Non- Clinical Lead for Sentinel Stroke National Audit Programme at UHB/Stroke Office Manager
They will be expected to support clinical audit within the Stroke Service by identifying appropriate patients; collecting, validating, and submitting data to agreed internal and external sources including the Sentinel Stroke National Audit Programme (SSNAP).
The post holder will also support the various clinical governance activities within the Stroke service under the leadership of Non -Clinical Lead for SSNAP at UHB.
Main duties of the job
Support the Sentinel Stroke National Audit Programme (SSNAP) on a day-to-day basis ensuring data is collected, validated, and entered onto the national and local databases within specific time limits. Dealing with problems and queries surrounding conflicting information and suggesting solutions
Undertake and coordinate data collection from computerised and manual records. Maintain accurate records of an audit project on a local database for validation purposes.
Provide administrative support to the Stroke Audit Team so that they can undertake and facilitate specific audit projects.
Collate evidence for producing and disseminating monthly and quarterly reports for the national audits and other audit activities
Maintain complex spreadsheets to monitor information regarding specific audit projects to allow communication of the audits in an easy-to-understand manner.
Knowledge and use of various Microsoft Office Software programmes including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, to produce letters, presentations, spreadsheets, and reports
Support Clinical Data Analyst in various project
Attend meetings on a regular basis. Contribute to building effective teamwork in exchanging views, ideas and communicating effectively.
Accurately input data using a variety of Trust IT systems in a timely way. Strictly adhere to Caldicott Principles and the Data Protection Act.
Attend audit meetings as an observer with the Stroke Audit Manager and Clinical Data Analyst and take notes as and when required
