Job summary

The Logistics Department undertakes the responsibility of providing a service to

University Hospital Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust stakeholders.

Logistics provides an effective and professional service delivering ongoing cost efficiencies and benefits in line with Trust and customer objectives.

As a member of the logistics team you will be required to adopt a flexible approach towards any Logistics and driving activities.

The posts at this level contain a range of tasks, some of which require the exercise of initiative whilst operating within broad procedural guidelines and requires a degree of independent judgement.

This post is based in Meteor Park, Aston, Birmingham B7 5TE.

Main duties of the job

Supervise the loading of the vehicle so that products are safely loaded and secured to minimise chances of damage.

The post holder will be a train the trainer on the 18-tonne electric vehicle.

Operate Class 2 Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGVs) in strict compliance with traffic laws, safety standards, and NHS policies, prioritizing the safety of the public and the integrity of cargo.

Exhibit professionalism and courteous behaviour when interacting with NHS staff at various facilities, serving as an ambassador for the NHS in a positive and helpful manner.

Qualifications

Essential

  • *Good Standard of General Education to GCSE or equivalent level
  • *Level 3 NVQ or equivalent experience plus additional knowledge acquired through training and experience to diploma level eg Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC)
  • *Valid Class 2 HGV driving license.
  • *Have received additional DAF training / citification on an electric 18 tonne vehicle.
  • *A clean driving record with no major traffic violations.

Experience

Essential

  • *Previous experience as a Class 2 HGV driver.
  • *Proficiency in using navigation and route optimization tools.
  • *Exceptional time management and route planning skills.
  • *Strong knowledge of HGV operation and maintenance.

Desirable

  • *Familiarity with local delivery routes within the NHS network.
  • *Digital Tachograph Card experience.
