The role of the Therapy Support worker is to support the therapy teams in the treatment and rehabilitation of patients.
This involves working in a multi-disciplinary team of Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists and other therapy support workers. The Therapy Support worker will work autonomously under the supervision of the qualified therapists and the Band 4 Therapy Support Workers in the team.
This role will involve administrative tasks to support the day to day requirements of the service.
The team undertake mobile working and record notes using electronic devices.
The trust is committed to providing a 7 day service. The role therefore includes participation in a weekend cover rota.
The post holder will be involved with joint working with qualified Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists to deliver safe, effective and timely care within the patient's own home
Main duties of the job
To be responsible for delegated aspects of clinical intervention and collection of relevant patient information. To assist the registered therapist in the assessment of patients and provide feedback to the registered therapist or Senior Therapy Assistant Practitioner regarding patient progress. To complete a prescribed rehabilitation plan and therapeutic activities that instruct and guide the patient to achieve personal goals e.g. activities of daily living, rehabilitative activities, appropriate exercises, gait re-education and stairs assessments.
Facilitate planning/preparation of and accompany registered therapists on home visits.
To independently conduct site visits to fit and deliver equipment and obtain necessary heights as requested by the qualified therapist.
To instruct patients and carers by providing advice and guidance on a range of physical therapy and mobility activities, as part of own clinical work or as directed by a registered therapist.
To be responsible for the safe use of equipment and aids for patients, observing a personal duty of care in relation to all resources, equipment and assets encountered in the course of the work.
To carry out 'housekeeping' and administrative duties as allocated by Registered Therapist, such as rotas for domestic assessment unit and the management of filing, data input, photocopying.
