Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full time Band 3 dietetic assistant to work with our dietetic team at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham. The role will have a strong administrative focus, whilst working with dietitians, nutrition nurses, patients and working with our home enteral feeding service. The successful candidate will be part of an evolving dietetic team of Dietetic Assistants, Senior Dietitians, which will be led by a dedicated Band 7 Specialist Dietitian.

The successful individual will support the dietetic team in arranging home enteral feed discharges, as well as support with homeward, letters, relevant discharge paperwork and delivering equipment to patients on the ward. Good verbal and written communication are essential as the candidate will be expected to liase with patients and community services.

The applicant must have excellent computer, written and verbal communication skills and the ability to carry light loads around a busy acute NHS hospital. It would be desirable for the applicant to have a basic understanding of nutrition principles in health and wellbeing, alongside knowledge of enteral feeding, although full job training will be provided. Being flexible, organised, managing a caseload and accurate record-keeping are essential.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidates will join a small friendly team, but you will be part of the larger dietetic team at the QE Hospital of over 60 dietitians covering various specialities. You will work closely with different therapy colleague and nutrition nurses.

The successful individuals will take on a valuable role in supporting the team by:

- organising enteral feed training,

- completion of forms, GP letter and referrals ,

- delivery of nutritional feeding equipment

-supporting with patient queries.

- liaising with other services such as the community

- completion of home enteral feeding forms on the connections system

The applicants will ideally have:

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills

- Knowledge of computer programmes e.g. email, spreadsheets, data bases, patient information programmes and appointment systems
