Job summary
The Neurology research Team at University Hospital Birmingham (UHB) is offering a permanent post. This post will be a key figure in evolving and driving forward an exciting and diverse research disease portfolio.
*You will be responsible for maintaining the infrastructure and systems to support and deliver high quality research, and for ensuring compliance with EU and UK regulatory requirements for the conduct of research. You will be expected to develop the managed trial portfolio, oversee study financial management, and promote the benefits of research, working closely with the clinical services.
*You must have knowledge and experience of research management and be able to demonstrate excellent organisational, interpersonal and communication skills and will be self-motivated and enthusiastic with the ability to work on your own initiative. You will need to be flexible in your approach to work and be confident in liaising with a wide range of people at a senior level across health, academic and commercial sectors. Local training to enhance these skills will be provided.
*The Trust delivers innovative research at a fast pace. Previous experience within NHS research, and a detailed understanding of ICH GCP and the EU directive for clinical trials are an essential requirement for these posts.
*The post holder has a core role within their team, with responsibility for all research related activity.
Main duties of the job
Essential Skills required to be able to apply for these posts:
Strategic duties:- Ability to propose changes to practice and lead on service development for specialist area, developing and implementing policy for that area. Propose changes in conjunction with service groups which have wider implications/development of service wide performance policies
Operational Management: - Evidence of Understanding of clinical trial methodologies & logistic, including study feasibility, set up and management of suitable research studies as well as identifying and recruiting patients to a wide portfolio of studies -- both Commercial and Academic.
Financial Management:- Evidence of being involved in the costing of commercial studies or review of academic study costs.
Personnel Management : - Evidence of day to day supervision/management of staff and delivers training on a range of subjects. Evidence of developing team / others. Evidence of managing staff groups
Information Management :- Evidence of Excellent IT skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, e-mail systems, patient Administration Systems/electronic patient records
