Job summary
Here at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust, an exciting opportunity has arisen for suitable candidates to join our CESR programme in Anaesthetics and Intensive Care Medicine (ICM), providing an alternative route to specialist registration for doctors aspiring to be Consultants. Successful applicants will be able to choose speciality areas as per their training requirements. We aim to attract senior doctors who may have already started their CESR programme, senior doctors who are considering taking the CESR route or who are currently in a training programme but wish to change over to the CESR route. Most contracts offered will be for a period of 2 years though this is negotiable.
Please note that applications for both 6 and 12 month posts will be considered.
Main duties of the job
Appointed candidates can expect rotations in the following modules: Neuro-anaesthesia, Cardiac Anaesthesia, Liver Anaesthesia, Obstetric Anaesthesia, General and Burns Anaesthesia and Trauma and Regional Anaesthesia. The Intensive Care Medicine portfolio pathway would provide rotations required by the relevant FICM curriculum in general ICU and within subspecialty areas. Candidates will also be expected to provide out-of-hours emergency cover. Having developed very good relationships with Birmingham Children's Hospital, we have an agreement for secondments for those wishing to obtain their Paediatric Anaesthesia or Intensive Care Modules competencies within the second year of the fellowship.
