An exciting opportunity has arisen for a proactive and dynamic individual with vision, drive and enthusiasm and an appropriate level of knowledge and skill to join the Pharmacy team as the Senior Support Pharmacists General Medicine at the Queen Elizabeth site of UHB Trust.

We are seeking a motivated and experienced Pharmacist to join our Clinical Pharmacy Team. If you are a clinical pharmacist who has worked as a pharmacist in hospital pharmacy, covering a range of specialties, or have the ability to demonstrate the equivalent level of knowledge, and are ready for the next step in your career then this could be the job for you.

Applicants who don't meet the criteria in the person specification relating to diploma status but who can demonstrate post-registration hospital experience and who have commenced a clinical diploma are invited to apply and will be appointed in a progressional post under Agenda for Change Annex U. Through a structured and supported development program a set of criteria is used to ensure you are supported and achieve key skills and knowledge before moving into the senior support role.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will also be a key member of the general medicine team reviewing and prioritising patients at ward level. As part of a large clinical pharmacy team, you will work closely with the Specialist Pharmacist for Respiratory Medicine & Specialist Pharmacist for Diabetes, lead consultants and ward managers. Managing more junior pharmacists and technicians you will work to support and improve patient stay in hospital whilst retaining direct patient contact. You will need an ability to develop effective working relationships, to challenge and to prioritise your own work as well as the work of the team.

Essential

  • *Vocational Masters degree (MPharm) in pharmacy (or equivalent) with current GPhC registration
  • *Has completed first year of clinical diploma or possesses equivalent experience. If criteria does not apply to candidate, then candidate will be able to apply for a progression post under Agenda for Change Band 6/7 Annex U
