Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Trust wide Safeguarding Named Midwife for Safeguarding to lead our dynamic and innovative maternity Safeguarding Team.
We are looking to recruit a highly motivated and passionate individual with strong leadership skills, who has an expert knowledge of the safeguarding adults and children's agenda and co ordinates a Think family approach throughout the Trust.
The post holder will provide a link between staff and services, The safeguarding and vulnerabilities team and external agencies.
The post holder will be be a highly visible senior midwife, providing specialist knowledge, advice and clinical expertise to all staff in maternity services in all areas of Safeguarding Children/Child Protection.
The post holder is required to be a Registered Midwife with supervisory experience. They will have excellent communication skills and be able to build positive relationships with internal and external professionals, provide advice and support on safeguarding matters to individual staff and services, and support the team to deliver training and supervision.

To manage Specialist Midwives and Safeguarding Team
To work collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary team and partner agencies to ensure that babies who come into contact with services at University Hospitals Birmingham are safeguarded and their welfare is promoted.
To ensure there are child death reporting and review processes within maternity services.
Together with the Named Nurse and Named Doctor contribute to the Trust Safeguarding Training Strategy.
Actively participate and lead on quality assurance processes, audits and report writing in accordance with the safeguarding agenda.
To give maternity safeguarding assurance to Director of Midwifery and Safeguarding Board
To contribute to the University Hospitals Birmingham response to Serious Local safeguarding Practice Reviews ensuring that recommendations are implemented and audited.
Ensure that The Trust meets its statutory obligation to safeguard and promote the welfare of all unborn, children and young people and vulnerable pregnant women who access services from within the Trust
