Job summary
University Hospitals Birmingham Catering Department have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Chef to join our catering team.
The Catering Department at University Hospitals Birmingham have a vacancy for a bank Chef to assist preparing meals for Patients, Staff Restaurants and Hospitality events within a thriving CPU. The ideal candidate must be patient focused and is able to demonstrate practical experience and knowledge of allergens and nutritional content. Having experience within an Industrial Kitchen would be an advantage. They will be required to ensure food safety standards are met at all times following our HACCP procedures.
Main duties of the job
Ensure all food hygiene, HACCP, Health and safety, COSHH and other statutory legislation is adhered to all time within all catering areas and that all stipulated records are maintained.
Ensure that the presentation of all food is in accordance with agreed standards as defined by the catering manager.
Maintain correct storage of food. Ensuring that employees are storing all provisions in accordance with food hygiene legislation.
Coordinate patient and retail meal services in line with catering standards.
Produce nutritious patient meals using standardised recipes, tasting meals to ensure they meet the quality required for patients.
Develop new dishes to be sold within the Restaurants at Solihull Hospital and Good Hope Hospital.
Ensure that catering employees are working in a safe environment with the correct machinery, equipment, and uniform whilst carrying out all their duties safely.
Report production problems to the head chef and Catering Manager.
