Job summary

An opportunity has arisen for a registered nurse to join the Nutrition Nurse team at Good Hope Hospital working hours 30 hours per week.

We are a small, friendly team looking after patients with a variety of conditions who require nutritional support. The successful candidate will support the Band 7 Nutrition Nurse Specialist in developing the service to include nurse lead outpatient clinics, staff and patient teaching and patient counselling.

The post would be best suited to a nurse who is keen to specialise in nutritional support, keen to learn and with experience of looking after patients who have had enteral feeding (such as via naso gastric tubes or PEGs) and parenteral nutrition.

Main duties of the job

The ideal candidate will be able to work as part of a team but also will work autonomously, liaising with multi disciplinary teams across hospital and community settings. The role involves clinical assessment and counselling of patients who require various forms of nutritional support, troubleshooting with enteral and parenteral devices, informal and formal teaching and supporting ward teams. The post holder will participate in nutrition nurse lead out patient clinics in addition to multi disciplinary clinics and will take a key role within the nutrition support team ward rounds. As part of the team they will also actively participate in research and audit.
