The HGS hospitals (part of University Hospitals Birmingham) Cardiology department currently spans three hospital sites, Birmingham Heartlands, Solihull and Good Hope Hospitals.

We are currently have a vacancy for a full time Band 5 nurse in the cardiac catheter lab. You will be expected to work across all three sites when required and participate in weekend / overnight on call as necessary at BHH. As a band 5 staff nurse in cardiology, you will have the following specialist cardiology nursing skills including:

To be responsible for the delivery of patient centered care, ensuring patient care and safety.

To work in the cardiac catheter lab, deliver specialist care, and share knowledge with acute medical nursing teams, patients, and relatives.

Main duties of the job

* To be responsible for the delivery of patient centered care by the assessment of care needs, the

development, implementation and evaluation of required nursing and cardiology specialist

interventions without constant direct supervision.

* To be responsible for ensuring patient care and safety are evaluated.

* To carry out all relevant forms of care and are designated to take charge regularly of the cardiac

catheter lab in the absence of the person with continuing responsibility.

* To work in the cardiac catheter lab and deliver specialist care and share knowledge with acute

medical nursing teams, patients and relatives.

* To supervise and teach other staff: qualified nurses, student nurses, allied health care professionals,

and /or health care assistants, hospital volunteers and work experience candidates within the scope

of your knowledge and experience.

* To work across all sites of the directorate as the service requires. Participate in on call rota where

required.
