Job summary

We are looking to recruit a highly skilled, highly motivated Physiotherapist to work as a Clinical Specialist within University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust. This full time specialist post will be based at Solihull Hospital Physiotherapy Department.

Working as a clinical specialist MSK physiotherapist, you will also act as one of the clinical leads for the Solihull team, offering day to day clinical supervision and support.

This is an opportunity for applicants looking to move into a more senior position, who have considerable experience assessing and treating acute and chronic conditions in an Acute NHS setting. Within the team we have staff working in FCP roles, T&O clinics, Spinal clinics, Rheumatology and Pain. We receive tertiary referrals from a number of specialist clinics and work across the MDT.

The Physiotherapy service actively supports CPD and personal development for all staff. We have a comprehensive in service training programme and run courses within the department.

We have an experienced team of Clinical Specialists supporting Senior staff.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will be expected to deliver advanced Physiotherapy assessment, advice and treatment of patients and act as a source of expertise to fellow clinicians, Trust managers, Healthcare Professionals and other services internal and external to the Trust as required.

You will lead in the advanced therapeutic assessment, management and treatment of MSK patients, possibly with diverse presentations and complex physical and psychological conditions including pain and rheumatology to develop and deliver an individualised specialist treatment programme

There will be opportunities to work under the supervision of Consultants in clinic settings as/if required and to assist in the 18 week targets.

You will lead in the training and development of clinical practice and service development; undertaking clinical audits and evaluation of evidence based practice. You will support in the management, supervision and appraisal of staff and students within the musculoskeletal field.
