Job summary

The Decontamination team is expanding, and the role will be supporting theatres with
development of their surgical instrument trays.
We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organised individual to join our Decontamination
team as an Instrument Coordinator. Playing a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and efficient
operation of surgical procedures by; managing the inventory, completing and standardising
surgical sets, maintaining an accurate inventory of surgical instruments and equipment, and
monitoring usage and expiration dates ensuring instruments are readily available for surgical
procedures. You will collaborate with surgical teams, nurses, and other healthcare professionals
to meet surgical instrument needs, acting as a liaison between operating theatre staff and the
Decontamination department and identify areas for process improvement and efficiency
enhancements.
Main duties of the job
The Instrument Co-ordinator is 37.5 hours post. We will provide a competitive salary, uniform,

You will be required, on occasion, to carry out full duties in the Central Endoscopy
Decontamination unit monitored by our Quality Standard and must be able to work across sites
at Queen Elizabeth, Good Hope, Heartlands and Solihull Hospitals. This is an exciting opportunity
to develop new skills and to offer a vital service to all clinical areas.
This role requires strong communication skills, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to
work in a fast-paced healthcare environment. You will be reliable, enthusiastic and self motivated, understanding the importance of excellent customer service/team working. You will
put into practice the training you receive which will be specific to the role and includes infection
control and how the flexible scope/medical devices are designed and used. Having regular
contact with clinical colleagues you will be a good ambassador by always demonstrating Trust
values.
Previous experience in surgical instrument coordination, extensive sterile service experience
including all specialities in surgical medical devices, or a related role is preferred.
