As a Band 7 ward manager you will be providing clinical and managerial leadership to the nursing team on either Ward 1 Medicine. Ward 4 surgical vascular or ward 18 trauma and orthopaedic. In addition, you will be developing staff to ensure they have the knowledge and clinical skills to improve the patient experience and assuring patient safety by delivering high quality evidence-based care in a caring and compassionate way.

Main duties of the job

Ward 1 is a 34 bedded Acute Medicine Ward caring for patients with multiple medical needs requiring nursing knowledge across different specialties. The ward strives to provide high quality care to patients. This is a busy but rewarding area where you will be surrounded by friendly and supportive colleagues in an environment that encourages new ideas, innovation and personal development.

Ward 4 is vascular surgical ward consisting of 29 beds catering for the needs of Surgical vascular patients pre/ post operatively, the unit also includes a HDU/VECU Bay, the wards team provide new staff with a welcome and friendly environment where you can be sure to receive support from the team and Matron within this role.

Ward 18 consists of 25 beds specialising in the fragility fracture neck of femur services under the trauma and orthopaedic team. We work very closely within the multidisciplinary team delivery high standards of patient care ensuring that their holistic needs are met. We encourage staff to participate in development and educational opportunities to further develop and progress their career.
