a.Locum Consultant Plastic Surgeon- Head and neck skin oncology
b.Locum Consultant Plastic Surgeon- Trunk and extremity skin oncology
Both posts are for a full time (10 PA) job plan. The post holder will work as a member of a team of Consultant Plastic Surgeons, based at the University Hospital Birmingham NHS Trust. This Trust is the Regional Burns and Plastic Surgery Centre for the West Midlands. The University Hospital Birmingham NHS Trust is a specialist centre for adult services in Burns, Hand Surgery, Breast Reconstruction, Skin Oncology, lower limb trauma, sarcoma and Head and Neck surgery. UHB is one of the largest tertiary referral centres for skin oncology in the UK.
Main duties of the job
Plastic Surgery is a separate speciality within Division 5 Group A. The Medical Director is Dr Peter Hewins, the Clinical Service Lead is Mr George Filobbos and the clinical governance lead is Mr Mohamed Maher. The Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham opened in June 2010 and has 1250 beds, providing secondary care to its local population and tertiary care to the West Midlands, the wider community and neighbouring counties. This provides state of the art operating theatres, a 100-bedded critical care department, excellent radiology support and first class in-and-out patient facilities. The Centre for Defence Medicine is based in the hospital and is the main receiving hospital for the British military casualties from conflict areas around the world. From April 2012, QEHB has functioned as a Level 1 Trauma Centre receiving major civilian trauma from the West Midlands and neighbouring counties.
