Job summary
A rare and exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Registered Nurse to join the Wellcome Short Stay unit at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham as a Band 6 Sister/Charge Nurse.
The Wellcome Short Stay Unit is a 31 bedded multi-speciality short stay unit, which is open Monday -- Sunday. The unit cares for both elective admissions and supports capacity for the trust. Specialities that utilise the unit include neuro-surgery, neurology, breast, hands, plastics, liver, renal, general surgery, trauma and orthopaedics, maxillo-facial & ear, nose and throat.
Shift patterns are varied and include short days, long days, weekends and nights.
We would welcome applicants with excellent organisational and communication skills who can act as a role model and deputise for the Senior Sister/Charge Nurse to lead a great and supportive team in an ever expanding and exciting service.
Main duties of the job
The applicant would work as a skilled member of the team ensuring that a high standard of care is delivered to patients being admitted for both elective surgery and capacity patients.
All applicants must demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching and a desire to develop and progress a career within the department.
The applicant should have a sound knowledge of surgical nursing, good leadership skills and a willingness to undertake new skills.
