Job summary

The Head of Staff will work closely with, and provide dedicated support to, the CEO on a wide-range of projects and issues.

The post holder will assume responsibly for the CEO office and associated functions, supporting the CEO and Executive Team in the delivery of UHB's vision, values and key objectives

A key role for the Head of Staff will be to provide relevant and timely briefings for a wide range of internal and external meetings, including action tracking and follow-up, as well as ensuring the Executive Team has good oversight and foresight of key cross-organisational work, their interdependencies, and any potential issues.

The post holder will work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, to ensure effective management of interdependencies and delivery of objectives.

It is expected that the specific projects managed by the post holder will change over time, as the portfolio of work changes.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will:

*Work closely with, and provide dedicated support to, the CEO on a wide-range of projects and issues

*Be responsible for the CEO office and associated functions

*Support the CEO and Executive Team in the delivery of UHB's vision, values and key objectives

*Provide leadership and coordination to the CEO, and wider executive functions, including management of the Executive Assistant Team

*Work collaboratively and independently with Board-level and other key stakeholders, to ensure effective management of interdependencies and delivery of objectives

*Provide relevant and timely briefings for a wide range of internal and external meetings, including action tracking and follow-up

*Manage the CEO generic inbox and associated processes, ensuring timely and high-quality responses to enquiries

*Improve current processes and coordinate organisational procedures for optimized efficiency and productivity.

*Work with the Chair, CEO and Executive Team to map out and oversee the Board's plans, role and engagement

*Support with the production of high-quality papers and materials for meetings of the Board, its sub-committees and other meetings

*Ensure the Executive Team has good oversight and foresight of key cross-organisational work, their interdependencies, and any potential issues
