Job summary

We are looking to recruit enthusiastic and well-motivated individuals to join our friendly team of pharmacy technicians who provide a range of pharmaceutical services in this busy acute hospital Trust.

Applicants must be registered as a pharmacy technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council. Hospital pharmacy experience is not essential but may be an advantage. This post will suit newly qualified Pharmacy Technicians

This role is open to ALL technicians including community-based technicians with NO hospital experience. This is an excellent opportunity to further your pharmacy career to break into the hospital sector.

The successful candidate will support the smooth running of the pharmacy dispensary ensuring that medication is supplied safely and accurately in a timely manner. You will be required to undertake a broad range of duties and full training will be given

Main duties of the job

You will be part of an expanding team of highly professional and dedicated staff whose aim is to provide an excellent, patient focus service.

Band 4 pharmacy technician role involves;

*Dispensing for in and out-patients

*Stock control

*Reception and telephones duties

*Checking and assembling items for ward stock and emergency drug boxes

*Preparing discharge prescriptions, including blister packs

*Preparing controlled drug orders

*Topping up the emergency cupboard

*Supporting the training and supervision on pre-registration technicians and other support staff

*Team leading

*Participating in late nights, weekends and bank holidays

The required candidates must have excellent organisational and time management skills as they will be responsible for a variety of dispensary based activities as well as team leading opportunities. They will need to have good attention to detail and be happy working flexibly within a team.

This post offers in-service development training and the opportunity to gain valuable leadership and management skills.
