Job summary
To maintain and repair Medical and Laboratory equipment, with appropriate supervision, as directed by the Line Manager. The post holder will be expected to work to a reasonable level of skill and to resolve technical issues on a broad range of medical equipment.
Main duties of the job
Follow departmental quality system procedures for repairs and maintenance, to include the requirements contained in any Department of Health, MHRA Guidance/Codes of Practice, British Standards, HTM's, Guidance Notes [Health & Safety etc.] and other similarly accepted documents. Also liaise with equipment manufacturers to obtain technical information when required.
Ensure the safety of the equipment and services for which he/she is responsible, and employ safe methods of working as required by the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974, COSHH Regulations, and the Trust's Safety Policies.
Maintain a system for the statutory and general records of equipment and services for which he/she is responsible by paper, electronic or other means and submit reports as requested. This will be achieved by accurate and timely completion of records including detailed reports of technical work carried out.
Obtain costs and quotations where necessary and raise requisitions for the purchase of goods and services following departmental quality system procedures and in accordance with the Trust's Standing Financial Instructions.
Bring to the attention of the Line Manager all matters affecting policy, established procedures, training, safety, continuity of services and technical and business developments.
Advise the Line Manager of major failure of plant, equipment and services.
