We are looking for a self-motivated, enthusiastic, dynamic, forward thinking Theatre Nurse RN or Operating Department Practitioner ODP for an exiting opportunity as a Band 6 Theatre Team Leader in Plastics, Wellcome Theatres at QEH site. You must have recent experience of working within theatre as a Band 5, you will need to be flexible and able to demonstrate effective leadership skills and be able to adapt to clinical demands in an environment that can be unpredictable and challenging.

To join our innovative and motivated multi-disciplinary teams, individuals should be able to demonstrate good interpersonal skills, be flexible and work under their own initiative whilst adapting to clinical demands. You will provide professional leadership to dedicated theatre teams whilst developing and maintaining high standards in all areas of practice.

Main duties of the job

Our Trust has excellent opportunities for a Band 6 Team Leader to develop, enhance, consolidate and excel their Theatre Skills, in Anaesthetic, Scrub and Recovery.

All applicants must demonstrate within their application a strong commitment to teaching and desire to develop and progress your career within the Operating Theatre Department.

All applicants are required to work a range of shifts including earlies, nights, on calls, weekends, Long days, and bank holidays. There will be cross site working between obstetrics on BHH and GHH sites.

  • * NMC Registered Nurse / HCPC Registered Operating Department Practitioner
  • * Knowledge of a broad range of theatre procedures and instrumentation/ processes equivalent to post graduate level acquired through Diploma / Degree plus experience and further study or qualification or an equivalent level of knowledge associated with the practice setting

Experience

  • * Recent experience within theatres working as a registered practitioner in an acute practice setting involving the supervision / education of junior staff
  • * Can demonstrate depth and breadth of experience of working in at least 2 areas of peri operative practice ( anaesthetics , scrub or recovery ) , and in different specialties including elective and emergency practice settings
  • * Professional portfolio which demonstrates continuing professional development, evidence of ability to maintain professional registration
  • * Evidence of effective multiprofessional working
  • * Experienced mentor / assessor / student supervisor
  • * Experience of supporting the implementation change including new procedures/ processes
  • * Evidence of the ability to confidently lead / coordinate a shift / area of the department
  • * Evidence of the ability to organise others and forward plan and review/ adjust staff rotas
  • * Experienced in learning from incidents / complaints and supporting changes in practice
  • * Wide knowledge of a range or pre and post-operative care, ability to plan and organise duties / service requirements associated with physical and human resources , ability to allocate tasks / duties to a range of staff
