Job summary
To manage the strategic planning, management and delivery of the multi-million pound portfolio of complex major construction projects Trust wide, an exciting opportunity.
The post holder has responsibility for the efficient and effective delivery of Operational Estates capital projects and other non-recurrent investments within the built environment, and is responsible for the management and control of all resources dedicated to the procurement and delivery of a programme of both major and minor building and construction schemes across UHB Trust owned properties.
To ensure projects are completed in accordance with all statutory, HTM / HBN requirements, and relevant guidance so as to achieve fit for purpose accommodation and to the satisfaction of end users and to ensure as part of the design and construction that the overall objectives of the Trust met.
The post holder is also responsible for ensuring the effective management and utilisation of the built environment assets of the organisation, the development and maintaining of site development plans and the overall Estates Strategy, including the investment planning so as to achieve high quality, safe environments for care.
Main duties of the job
Responsible for the overall integrity and coherence of the programme for multiple capital schemes.
Manages the Construction, Capital Programme Office and all members of the team, both internal and external.

- *Educated to minimum of degree level in building, mechanical or electrical disciplines or equivalent experience
- *Evidence of personal development in the profession and as a manager through formal study (short courses) or continuing personal development.
- *Member of a relevant professional body or equivalent to fulfil lead professional roles
- *Appropriate Project Management qualification or equivalent
Desirable
- *Chartered status
- *Second degree in management / project related issue
- *Further relevant leadership/management qualifications
Experience
Essential
- *Extensive experience in relevant Capital Projects Disciplines and operational estates, e.g. understanding of HTM's, HBN's
- *Extensive experience in the management and delivery of a complex overall capital programme
- *Engagement and experience in change management processes
- *Experience of asset management in a complex environment
- *Leading and delivering innovation and value management in Capital developments, and asset utilisation
- *Development of strategy and credible and successful implementation
- *Extensive knowledge of key areas of capital Development (technical, procurement, contracts, innovation, financial, value management)
- *Experience of continuous improvement methodologies
