Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 5 Nurse or ODP to work within our small but dynamic community Podiatric Surgery team. You will be expected to support the surgical team in the preparation and monitoring of patients attending for day surgery as well as taking an active role in providing post operative wound care, telephone advice and scheduling of theatres.
Experience in the ability to "Scrub" would be advantageous but not essential.
Podiatric surgery is the highly skilled surgical division of podiatry. Specialising on surgery below the ankle, including but not limited to fusions, corrections and amputations. We are based in Chelmsley Wood Primary Care Centre, Monday to Friday with no on-call rota and free parking.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for a dynamic individual who will encompass the trust's and NHS core values.
It is essential that you will have current and active NMC or HCPC registration.
Main duties include but are not limited to;
Assisting with the monitoring and implementation of all departmental and Trust policies, procedures and protocols.
Assisting in the management, co-ordination and participation in the daily running of theatre and out-patients lists.
Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individual patient care within nurse led out-patient clinics.
You will be also expected to prepare, check and make ready for use all equipment and instruments required for surgical and clinical procedures, including cleaning and minor maintenance. As well as assisting Podiatric Surgeons and Anaesthetists within the theatre and recovery environment.
