Job summary

Applications are invited for a substantive Consultant post in Burns and Plastic Surgery to join a multi-disciplinary team with high standards of clinical care.
The hospital has 1,213 inpatient beds, 30 operating theatres and a 100-bed critical care unit, the largest co-located critical care unit in the world. QEHB is host to the Royal Centre for Defence Medicine (RCDM).
The involvement in continuing medical education is an integral part of the advertised post and as such, the successful candidate will be expected to significantly increase the recruitment to clinical trials and practice evidence based medicine.
Main duties of the job
Candidates must be on the GMC Specialist Register or be within 6 months of obtaining a CCT by the interview date. Previous experience and training in managing major and complex burn injuries is essential. In addition to adult burn care, successful candidates is expected to provide on call cover and clinical sessions at the nearby Paediatric Burns Centre at Birmingham Children Hospital.
It is a full time 10 PAs job. The post holder will become an integral part of the burns MDT Team who work closely with other specialties. You would also be expected to participate in elective and emergency work and participate in teaching and training of the junior trainees. And you will participate in department audit and research activities.
