Job summary
We are seeking enthusiastic and experienced phlebotomist to join our UHB/HGS Phlebotomy team for Heartlands, Good Hope and Solihull Hospital Sites.
This is an interesting and wide-ranging post requiring a caring person with proficient communication, good interpersonal skills, the ability to work under pressure and basic key board skills. Successful candidates will have had recent clinical experience of undertaking phlebotomy (preferably within the last six months) and are expected to complete our local training and competence assessments following appointment.
Main duties of the job
The role requires a flexible approach to duties and the ability to remain calm in a busy environment. The role involves obtaining blood samples from Inpatients, Outpatients, Various clinics include Paediatric clinic. An essential requirement of the post is an ability to work as part of a team without direct supervision and to deal with patients in a confidential, professional, and sensitive manner.
Suitable applicants will also need to have a desire to learn and contribute effectively to patient care and be capable of working as part of a team, but also to take responsibility for their own work.
The post holder will be based at one of the three sites, though some cross site cover will be required as part of both training and service delivery needs and some work at external sites such as Primary care (CDC) or domiciliary visits may be required.
The core hours are between 07:00 and 17:00 Monday-Friday, and weekends and bank holidays by rotation.
Applications are welcome on a full time and part time basis (minimum of 16 hours).
