Job summary

On behalf of and across the Heartlands Site (including Yardley Green site and the Birmingham Chest Clinic) to act as the Trust's Operational Estates Manager ensuring that the Trust's estate enables the Trust to perform its duties within the available resources in a safe environment as detailed in the Social Care Act and the wider Trust as required. The Trust is currently going through managerial change and the applicant will need to show the ability to be dynamic.

Demonstrate effective leadership skills, supporting the associated director of operational Estates for the Heartlands site in service development and lead as delegated on the implementation of any of these changes.

Monitor standards and maintain high quality estates provision day to day. Report any incidents via the Trust electronic reporting system and escalate issues promptly and appropriately

Contribute to the development of policies and service developments relating to the post, for example standard operating procedures and key performance indicators.

Maintain an awareness of professional and ethical issues to ensure support is delivered in a professional timely and courteous manner by all staff members respecting the different spiritual and cultural backgrounds of colleagues, patients and relatives.

Main duties of the job

To keep up-to-date on legislative, regulatory, HTMs, HBNs other statutory estates standards/guidance and to revise estates systems, standards, policies, practices, procedures, specifications, method statements, plans and risk assessments accordingly.

To ensure that contractor's staff are appropriately trained, skilled, qualified and experienced for the tasks to be undertaken.

Close liaison with Trust's H&S team including on site safety inspections and audits.

Ensuring the safety of the plant, equipment and services for which he/she is responsible and safe methods of working as required by the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974, COSHH Regulations, Building and Construction Regulations, High Voltage, Medical Gases, Pressure Systems and the Estates/Trust's Safety Policy.

Advise the Associate Director of Operational Estates /Deputy Director of Estates of major failure of engineering plant, equipment and services.
