We have just launched a new operating model which is providing an opportunity for University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust (UHB) to reset. The focus for our new Chief Medical Officer will be to provide every patient with the highest quality, equitable care possible. Delivering the best clinical care will sit front and centre of our mission every day.
We are also building a health and care system fit for the future, which addresses the needs of those we serve. We will drive research and innovation in the diseases and conditions which most impact people in our communities and lead the way in searching for solutions to the challenges faced across the area.
As CMO you will lead the development of our medical strategy through inclusive, open-minded and compassionate professional leadership that actively engages medical, dental, pharmacy and scientific professionals.
You will live and breathe our values of being kind, connected and bold.
If you share our passion for a healthier future where UHB is a centre of excellence for patients and an employer of choice for the best clinical talent, you are invited to call Helen Cant, Talent and Engagement Lead, on 07989 959008.
Main duties of the job
The Group CMO will enhance UHB's clinical offering, ensuring patient safety and lead our wider medical professionals to deliver the very best care to our patients. You will ensure effective systems are in place to monitor and improve clinical and operational performance, whilst championing a positive learning culture.
You will provide visionary leadership to the Trust's medical, dental, pharmacy and scientific workforce, and all senior clinical leaders, and be the voice of these professions at Board, ensuring that professional perspectives, knowledge and expertise are used to ensure effective decision making is translated in to successful clinical practice. To do this, you will be a visible, dynamic and compassionate professional leader who role models excellence in clinical practice, multi-disciplinary working, and commitment to improving patient and staff experience.
You will provide exemplary leadership to the development of academic and research activities in the Trust, and take the lead role in shaping the policies and strategies for developing and transforming medical practice throughout the Trust, in order to ensure highly safe, personal and effective care is consistently delivered to our patient population.
You will develop and maintain systems of clinical governance which ensure that the Trust places patient safety at the heart of the organisation's functioning, and that systems and processes are integrated into the fabric of the day-to-day service provision.
