Job summary

This is your opportunity to join a dynamic and evolving therapy team at Heartlands Hospital, part of UHB Trust.

We are looking for an enthusiastic Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy Support Worker with excellent communication skills to join our Therapy team.

You will have the opportunity to support the delivery of the physiotherapy and occupational therapy services to patients within the clinical setting. This will involve working under the supervision of registered Physiotherapists and Occupational therapists and having responsibility for an agreed clinical caseload.

The Therapy Support Worker will be required to work on the wards and may be required to complete both community and domiciliary visits to patients' homes. You will be required to report back to the registered therapists regarding patient progress and maintain appropriate records of all patient interventions.

We currently have opportunities within the Medicals / Older People's Therapy Team and the Trauma and Orthopaedic team.

We have opportunities for full time and part time permanent posts working within a large dynamic team of Therapists

The Trust is committed to providing a 7 day service and therefore the role is on a 7 day working rota

Main duties of the job

To support the delivery of the physiotherapy and occupational therapy services to patients within the acute clinical setting within medicals / older people or trauma and orthopaedics.

This will involve accepting patients referred by the therapists for treatment, working unsupervised, reporting back regarding patient progress, informing the therapists of any problems and maintaining appropriate records. Patients will be treated according to set treatment protocols and you will be monitoring patient progression, implementing and making minor alterations to patient treatment programmes as required.

The post holder will need to be flexible, have excellent team working, organisational and time management skills, and have an awareness of the need to respect confidentiality at all times.

You will be required to complete various administration tasks alongside your clinical work. A basic knowledge of IT is desirable.

Previous experience working with elderly people or members of the general public is also desirable.

You should be willing to participate in seven day working.
