If you want to be at the heart of developing the future healthcare workforce, join our UHB Practice Placement Team where Quality and Safety of patient experience is at the centre of everything we do, as we lead the way with our own School of Nursing, AHP and Midwifery.Working within the Practice Placement Team under supervision of Practice Placement Managers you will support the implementation and delivery of quality nursing care through teaching, assessing and supervision of Practice Supervisors, Practice Assessors and undergraduate students based at Heartlands Hospital and their satellite dialysis units.You will need to be a registered practitioner with 12 months experience working with undergraduate healthcare students with a good understanding and knowledge of local university processes for practice placements. You will have sound working knowledge of the NMC supervision and assessment standards as an up to date Practice Assessor, experience teaching a range of clinical skills within your current role, awareness of undergraduate nursing curriculums and prepared to work flexibly across our 4 sites.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for a dynamic, motivated individual that will demonstrate flexibility, workload planning and ability to work in a fast paced environment to:-
* Support induction/orientation of students to UHB, ensuring they feel welcomed
* Assist students with placement documentation in order to achieve their learning outcomes
* Provide pastoral care support, conduct student forums and review meetings
* Enhance student experience by coordinating/teaching a range of clinical skills and complete placement audits to assess student suitability
* Support practice supervisors/assessors so they have the necessary skills, knowledge and experience to support, teach and assess students, including underachieving students, in developing action plans, escalating to universities and placement managers
* Utilise excellent written/oral communication skills to ensure staff/ students are supported with potential practice fails and utilise digital methods for communication/record keeping
* Demonstrate desire to improve the student placement experience as a credible practitioner, with ability to produce exciting teaching plans/sessions and deliver clinical teaching skills
* Be a visible role model, ensuring trust policy is maintained for patient safety, work with clinical/education teams across the trust to increase placement capacity and create learning opportunities
* Demonstrate a proven track record of supervision and assessment, with understanding of the NMC Standards for Supervision and Assessment
