Job summary

The Cancer Services Division at UHB delivers world class cancer care to patients from across the country, with a range of specialised services in oncology and haematology, delivered by a team of specialist pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and assistant technical officers.

This is an excellent opportunity for a pharmacy technician to explore aseptic services.

Main duties of the job

The role will include a variety of tasks, enabling you to develop your knowledge and skills through structured education and training opportunities. It provides a rewarding opportunity to assist in the preparation of cytotoxic drugs, monoclonal antibodies, CIVAS, OPAT and innovative treatments such as clinical trials in a safe and efficient manner according to Good Manufacturing Practice and National Standards.

Main duties include:

* Stock management

* Assembly of raw materials

* Worksheet production

* Pre-process checking

* Aseptic preparation in isolators

* In-process checking

* Cleaning of the unit

* Team leader and supervisor

* Co-ordinating the workflow

* Dispensing ready-made products

* Accuracy Checking of dispensed products (after completing the Accuracy Checking Pharmacy Technician course)

Full-time and part-time positions are available at Heartlands Aseptic Dispensing Unit/Satellite Unit and Melchett Road Aseptic Unit.

Training will be provided through in-house training packages as well as external courses, to ensure you feel confident in the role.

Opportunities for development include the Accuracy Checking Pharmacy Technician course and the Pre and In-Process checking course.

If you do not meet the person specification for the Band 5 Pharmacy Technician, you will start as a Band 4 Pharmacy Technician and progress within the job as experience is gained and defined criteria met.
