Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Occupational Therapist specialising in Stroke & Neurology looking to progress to the next step to become a Band 7 Team Leader of an Acute stroke & neurology occupational therapy team. This development post provides the individual with a 6-month training programme, provided by experienced stroke & neuro-therapists with the focus on developing the leadership and clinical skills of the successful candidate to make the transition from a Band 6 to a Band 7 occupational therapist. You will work through a set of specific competencies that will be required to be signed off prior to obtaining the band 7 post.
The post will predominantly be based at Good Hope's Acute Stroke unit but may include other in-patient wards. The caseload also includes acute neurological patients.
Main duties of the job
Applicants should be Band 6 OT working in stroke & neurology. It is essential they have expert clinical skills in stroke & neurology, leadership qualities, have good communication and interpersonal skills. The post-holder must be able to work as part of a multidisciplinary team and have excellent organisational and time management skills, teaching skills and an enthusiasm for service development.
The post holder will develop their leadership skills to undertake a lead role in planning, co-ordinating, delivering and evaluating the Acute stroke & neurology Occupational therapy service on a day-to-day basis. They will work closely with the MDT on the Acute Stroke Unit and support other occupational therapy teams working with stroke & neurology patients at GHH.
Applicants must be prepared to participate in our 7-day working service and have a driving licence.
