Band 7 Operations Manager (Switchboard)
This job is now closed
Job summary
When you mention Switchboards, you no doubt have a vision of a complex board of wires and rows of people answering calls and transferring them. We are delighted to say that things have moved on.
At UHB we are far from that memory -- We are now completely digitalised across all four of our acute hospitals. And it's a good job -- as last year alone saw 5.5 million calls come through our Command Ops Centre at QE and Heartlands.
As demands on our service continue to grow, we have recognised the need to support our teams to ensure a safe, effective and consistent provision where care is at the epicentre.
Working with the IT Service Operations Manager, you in the newly created Switchboard Manager role, will lead a team of 50+ full and part time colleagues who work a 24-7/ 365 shift pattern across two hubs at QE and Heartlands.
This team doesn't just answers calls -- at any time they could; deal with an internal 999 call, process commands/ direction during emergency situations, monitor oxygen levels within the hospitals -- and so much more. They truly provide a life saving communication service across the Trust.
Main duties of the job
It is therefore essential that you bring your leadership skills and experience with you in your application. Success in this role will see you lead, influence and guide your teams in a calm and effective way -- you will be KPI and SLA driven - yet care and kindness will underpin everything.
Supporting you in this role will be two Assistant Managers, who between them have a 40 years experience and unequivocal commitment to our patients and staff.
For you, we can offer a 37.50 contract with one of Birmingham and Solihull's largest employers, the security of a starting remuneration package of 43,742, 27 days leave plus BH- along with a renowned public sector pension all of which rises with service.
Interviews are scheduled for WB21st August where you will meet the team in situ and witness a typical shift. This will be an opportunity for you to detail your own leadership experience and suitability via transferable skills and knowledge.
