We are looking for enthusiastic and driven nurses to join Division one at QE. Consisting of Ambulatory Care Unit/ Welcome Short Stay, Discharge Lounge/Infusions and Admissions Lounge. We currently have vacancies on Ambulatory Care and Discharge lounge.
Ambulatory Care consists of 24 overnight beds and 56 day case trolleys. One of the largest multispecialty surgical units it is fast paced, busy and thoroughly rewarding in an environment where teamwork is paramount. Ambulatory Care also takes medical patient.
Discharge Lounge is open 7 days a week excepting patients from all wards to facilitate a safe and fast discharge to their destination. Discharge Lounge takes medical and surgical patient transfers to help with the current hospital capacity and flow.
An opportunity to be competent in clinical skills and will be supported to gain a vast amount of knowledge in multispecialty surgeries. Supporting you to become confident in nurse led admission and discharges' including pre pack medications.
Ambulatory Care offer long shifts and short shifts, day and night shifts Monday-Saturday 24 hour care at present but this may be expanded further in the future.
The Discharge Lounge offer short and long day shifts 7 days a week at present but this may be expanded further in the future.
Main duties of the job
You would be managing your own caseload of patients, both pre and post operatively. You will complete a nurse led admission for your group of patients and you must be able to communicate effectively to gain a detailed medical history in order to provide a safe pathway to theatre and discharge.
You will be required to work flexibly within the team in a dynamic and changeable environment which can evolve throughout the day with competing demands and post-operative requirements.
We require nurses who are hardworking and keen to go the extra mile to ensure patient care is of a high standard and that they feel valued and involved in the care given. We want to find nurses with excellent communication skills to link our team with the wider multidisciplinary services involved in our patient's pathway. We are looking for individuals who are not afraid to advocate for our patients and to build up a rapport in a time where they can feel anxious and uncertain about their procedure.
Previous surgery experience is not necessary as we will offer a supportive and tailored development program with a dedicated mentor and practice development team on commencement of post.
