Job summary

University Hospitals Birmingham Foundation Trust (UHB) and Birmingham Hospice are recruiting two consultants in Palliative Medicine.

You will join an innovative and supportive team all with a shared vision of providing outstanding care for palliative care patients across Birmingham.

These two posts consist of one 10 PA role working across UHB and Birmingham Hospice and one 6 PA role at Birmingham Hospice. Out of hours, the post holders will work alongside consultant colleagues within BSoL to provide an advisory service to the Hospices, Community and Hospitals.

We are seeking enthusiastic consultants to continue service development, and to support the Trust and hospice in improving how it cares for patients requiring supportive or palliative care.

Main duties of the job

*To provide senior clinical leadership to multi-disciplinary teams and ensure the delivery of high-quality palliative care to patients in inpatient and outpatient settings

*Supporting the triage of patients referred to the Supportive and Palliative Care team at QEHB and providing medical review and liaison with ward-based teams. Building links with other specialities to develop joint outpatient clinics and SPC input to site and condition specific MDTs

*Involvement in the learning and development for other team members, taking part in internal and external education offered by the hospice and hospital

*Commitment to good clinical governance and maintaining and improving quality of care via research, audit, monitoring patient satisfaction, outcome measurement, team reflection etc
