Job summary

Are you an enthusiastic, innovative dietitian experienced in specialist dietetic assessment and supporting patients with diverse presentations with an interest in developing your skill set in a new area of practice?

This Band 7 post provides a fantastic opportunity to work in the developing field of dietary management of Post Covid syndrome alongside other therapists to optimise nutritional treatment. The role also involves leading on the redesign of the dietetic outpatient service where there is a wide range of patient presentations. In advancing dietetic practice following the impact of the pandemic there is now a need to review how outpatient dietetic services are delivered using new technological advances in both patient treatment options and how the service is offered.

As Post Covid dietetics is a new and emerging area of practice there are opportunities to lead development of the Post Covid dietetic treatment pathway enhancing your quality improvement skills working closely with another Post Covid dietitian in Birmingham Community.

Training will be provided as your training and development is important to us where our focus is enabling you to thrive. You will be well supported working as part of a friendly progressive dietetic department and Post Covid therapy team.

We are looking for an innovative, self motivated dietitian. Excellent leadership, team working, organisational and time management skills are essential.

Main duties of the job

You will have a caseload of patients with Post Covid who are experiencing dietary complications. In addition you will have a key role in representing dietetics at Post Covid MDT meetings and supporting nutrition related queries.

You will also lead on evaluating and redesigning the current dietetic outpatient services to the Medical Surgical Dietetic Team as well as providing clinical dietetic expertise to this patient group.

Clinical work is across a variety of settings including outpatients in patients home, working with individuals and groups with complex needs both remotely and in person with some in-patient work.

You will work as part of a core dietetic leadership team alongside 3 other Band 7 dietetic team leads working across Acute Medicine, Specialist Medicine, Surgery and Stroke.

Therapies at Heartlands, Good Hope and Solihull hospitals as part of UHB is committed to providing a 7 day therapy service with participation in bank holiday cover for dietetics.

The Trust is a multi-site organisation you may be required to work at any Trust sites and you may need to change your normal place of work either temporarily or on a permanent basis as a result of development or re-organisation of Trust services.
